one thing I will never understand is how normal people are unaffected by movies or books I mean when they watch a movie or finish a book they say “well that was a good movie/book” and they move on while I have an existential crisis and question the whole universe

I ache everywhere and I’ve to leave the house in two hours to get on a bus. Travel pillow, don’t fail me now. I need those three hours to sleep before the adventures of Grace navigating Asgard begins in the morning.

In any case, Gatsby is very good. I can’t call it glorious because the beginning is pretty shaky and it feels very OTT and a little too much at times, but once it settles it draws you in like a magnet. Leo is so, so good in this film. I’d happily give him that long-awaited Oscar for it. Given how much I hate both Gatsby and Daisy as characters, it’s testament to Leo and Carey’s performances that I found myself surprisingly affected by the film. It’s visually sumptuous (of course), the soundtrack is magnificent, and everyone acquits themselves admirably. Special shout-out to JEdge for making the most brutish, despicable character compelling. And it’s not just his broad shoulders and big arms and baby blues and cheekbones, people.

Also, Kristin-san just sent me a fully interactive illustrated map of how to get to her and Michael-san’s place from central Oslo. Thursday is going to be The Epic Adventures of a Demented Tired and Slightly Ill Irishwoman as She Attempts to Navigate Asgard.

I have a headcold. Woe. This has been building since Saturday but only tonight unleashed its full force, as if it knows I have a super long day tomorrow because my trip to Norway begins at 2am on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Argh.

Asgard isn’t meant to be easy to get to, I suppose.

I want to make a t-shirt that says ‘Who the fuck is Talisa Stark?!’ because UGH.
^^
If she isn’t some kind of evil spy I’ll toss a very heavy hat at the laptop screen.
Or the wall, rather. My laptop doesn’t deserve rage for GoT’s ridiculousness.

I anticipate that my street cred shall rise considerably from wearing it.
I will also be brandishing Michael’s copy of The Physics of Star Trek, which I ought to have finished by Thursday. I’ll be reciting Starfleet regulation in my sleep.
